The Determined Women of God Community Group, affectionately known as D.W.O.G., stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of its founder, Sonya L. Edwards, who laid the foundation for this inspiring organization in 2015. As a community-based entity nestled in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, our purpose extends far beyond the ordinary – we are committed to fostering a sense of unity, empowerment, and social responsibility within our community.
At the heart of our mission lies a dedicated focus on youth development. Through thoughtfully crafted programs, we strive to captivate the minds and hearts of the younger generation, instilling in them a profound sense of pride in their neighborhood. Our innovative youth initiatives extend to organizing community cleanup projects and engaging in various civic events. By actively involving the youth in these endeavors, we not only contribute to the enhancement of their practical skills but also cultivate a genuine connection to the well-being of their surroundings.
A cornerstone of our philosophy is the promotion of the #PayingItForward mentality, a concept that echoes the biblical command to #OneAnothering – to extend kindness, support, and compassion to those in need. In alignment with these principles, our community clothing closet stands as a beacon of generosity, providing free, gently used clothing to individuals of all ages who find themselves in need. This initiative not only addresses a basic necessity but also reinforces the idea that, as a community, we are bound by the threads of compassion and mutual care.
